Uniting Civilisations, Cultivating Tianfu Culture
— Stirling College Establishes a Multinational Interdisciplinary Research Team
Stirling College has formally established a Chinese-international interdisciplinary research team, with a primary focus on the inheritance and development of fine traditional Chinese culture, civilisational exchange, and international communication. The team brings together scholars from Canada, Yemen, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Pakistan, and beyond — more than ten members in total — forming a collaborative research structure grounded in multicultural integration.
Professor Álvaro Collar, Executive Dean (UK), and Dr. Liu Yaling, Secretary of the CPC General Branch of Stirling College, are leading and coordinating team building and research work. Rooted in a perspective of multicultural exchange, the team's work centres on the innovative transformation and international expression of traditional culture.

As an interdisciplinary team, the current research focus is Tianfu Culture — the distinctive cultural heritage of the Chengdu Plain. Key topics include excavating and articulating the value of regionally distinctive culture, and exploring new pathways for international dissemination. The team also connects with the college's Leisure Sports programme to explore how cultural heritage can be integrated with sports, cultural tourism, and study-travel activities, responding to real local needs in cultural development and communication.

Building on the college's interdisciplinary strengths in Data Science, Digital Media, the International Foundation Programme, and Leisure Sports, the team will conduct systematic research in areas including digital preservation of heritage sites, digital storytelling, bilingual accessible communication, public education, and cultural experience design. The aim is to develop a collaborative model of "technology + creative expression + international communication + sports and cultural tourism" — establishing a benchmark for interdisciplinary research on Tianfu Culture within the context of Sino-foreign cooperative education.
As a key force in civilisational exchange and international communication, the research team will continue to work at the intersection of university and local community, leveraging the advantages of Sino-foreign cooperative education to build cultural bridges, tell the story of Tianfu, and carry the Bashu cultural heritage to a broader international audience.
